Andalusian summer 2015

Andalusian summer 2015

Hello everybody! I am back to the blogosphere and let me tell you this: it’s been a hot and long summer here in Andalusia. For sure, most of you know this by now…Like everywhere else in the world I heard.  As always  in the summer,  we divided our time in between work, friends and family visits, local fairs and some great new found restaurants. This summer like never before we  enjoyed the cool and refreshing swimming pool and I had to admit, for just two sweltering months it was worth its 10 months of maintenance.

Like every summer before, we had shortage in water distribution from the township but with  care and consciousness  we managed the problem. Adaptation is the secret word: shorter showers, watering the plants with recycled dishwater, and not at least, repairing all the dripping faucets around the house. It worked. The little fruit trees we replanted this spring enjoyed their new home along the driveway and hopefully next year they’ll bear some fruit. I planted few pots of fragrant herbs: basil, oregano and thyme which were great addition to our tasty summer salads and for sure I’ll do it again next year.

As always, we had dear guests here at “El Mirador”. Old friends or new, famous or not, all of them were welcomed and treated the best we could. We all shared tasty paellas and gazpacho, refreshing salads and sweet deserts. What a great feeling is sharing delicious food and good wine with people you love and care about, especially the ones you share plenty  memories with.

We  took long and exciting off road excursions in our faithful, old Jeep, reaching out offbeat places  with astonishing views and breathtaking sundowns.

                 How beautiful Andalusia can be!

We met in our outings beautiful and interesting people, exchanging with them stories and advice and I can sincerely say, people from Andalusia are the most welcoming and friendly people I ever met.

We enjoyed relaxing evenings at restaurants on the beach in front of delicious seafood dishes, deserts, and great  wine. Anyone who makes it here in southern Spain must try the most famous dish here in Malaga: espetos, or more exactly, skewered sardines. I wrote more about this here.

So after this long and eventful summer, the fall finally has descended over the hills and dales. The tree leaves are changing color  little by little and  the evenings and nights are getting cooler and longer.  It is still beautiful around here.  After few long rains in the past weeks, the almost forgotten green color has crawled slowly back into the  scenery. There is that time again…time for fall festivals, and shows. So don’t forget to come back here for some new interesting posts. See you then!
